Clifton E. Gill Jr. (age 85) of McLean, VA passed away peacefully at Chesterbrook Residences under Hospice care on Monday May 9, 2017. He was born on June 21, 1931 at Georgetown University Hospital and had been a lifelong resident of McLean, VA. His family settled in the town of Falls Church and McLean, VA in the 1700's. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Clifton E. Gill Sr. and Marie Divine Gill, stepfather John Kletter and his wife of 37 years, Mary Alys Hobbs Gill.

Clifton E. Gill Jr. (age 85) of McLean, VA passed away peacefully at Chesterbrook Residences under Hospice care on Monday May 9, 2017. He was born on June 21, 1931 at Georgetown University Hospital and had been a lifelong resident of McLean, VA. His family settled in the town of Falls Church and McLean, VA in the 1700's. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Clifton E. Gill Sr. and Marie Divine Gill, stepfather John Kletter and his wife of 37 years, Mary Alys Hobbs Gill.

Cliff is survived by his loving daughter, Alison Gill Falkoff, his sister, Bonnie Gill Thomasberg, his granddaughters, Helene Wren Falkoff and Harriet Divine Falkoff. In addition, his nephews; Clifton (Robin) Thomasberg, Timothy Thomasberg and Jon (Nevine) Thomasberg. He was sometimes called "the Mayor" of McLean and had many close friends
.
In his early years, Cliff attended Chesterbrook Elementary and Western High School. He later studied Banking in college. He was a veteran in the Korean War and had a very successful career as a Vice President in banking for nearly 40 years.

His involvement in the community was extensive and he served as the President of Fairfax Chamber of Commerce, President of the Rotary Club and numerous other boards and civic associations. Cliff developed an honorary award for exceptional Police Officers through the Chamber Commerce that is still active today.

He was an avid golfer and was a member of Westwood Country Club in Vienna, VA for 30 years. Cliff played minor league baseball, basketball and was a championship bowler. He loved the Redskins so much he attended the games for 30 years!

Family and friends will celebrate his life from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 West Broad Street, Falls Church, VA 22046. A service in the Murphy Chapel begins 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service. Internment will be held at Merrifield Cemetery, Merrifield, VA.
