Kathleen McGinty Simpson, 91 of Vienna, VA, passed away on Nov 27, 2016.

Kathleen was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Andrew and Mary (Cannon) McGinty on 7/30/1925. She graduated high school from St. Mary of Loretto, Montgomery, Al. She went on to work at Maxwell Air Force Base in flight ops. She married Joseph L. Simpson in 1951. They lived in Vienna, VA from the early 60's through the present. They were members of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Vienna, VA. Kathleen was a homemaker with 4 kids, &...

Kathleen was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Andrew and Mary (Cannon) McGinty on 7/30/1925. She graduated high school from St. Mary of Loretto, Montgomery, Al. She went on to work at Maxwell Air Force Base in flight ops. She married Joseph L. Simpson in 1951. They lived in Vienna, VA from the early 60's through the present. They were members of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Vienna, VA. Kathleen was a homemaker with 4 kids, & after the kids were grown, worked in the Fairfax Hospital medical records department, and the Department of Agriculture. After her husband Joe passed in 2008, Kathleen lived at Sunrise of Fairfax until her death.

Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband Joe, her sister Margaret & her brothers Andy & Charlie.

Kathleen is survived by her brother Barney McGinty of Aiken, SC; sons Joe & Steve, daughters Patty & Jeannie; 6 grandchildren: Samantha, Chris, Megan, Heather, Katie, Billy & 8 great grandchildren: Shelby, Danny, Elijah, Chloe, Liam, Gabriela, Caleb & Tristan.

Visitation will be held at Murphy's Funeral Home, 1102 West Broad Street, Falls Church, VA on December 1, 2016 from 6pm to 8pm. A funeral mass will be held on December 3, 2016 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 8601 Wolftrap Rd, Vienna, VA (in the chapel) at 1:30 pm. Kathleen will be laid to rest with her husband, LTC (Ret) Joseph L. Simpson at Arlington National cemetery at a later date. . In lieu of flowers, the family requests voluntary contributions to the Altzheimer's Foundation of America.
